South Denver Spine

Pain Areas: Neck, upper – often times a patient does not present with pain.

Indication: Myelopathy or compression against the spinal cord presents often times with clumsiness, loss of fine motor functions such as trouble buttoning buttons, trouble with balance and dropping objects.

Consultation: Diagnosis is typically confirmed with a thorough physical exam and MRI.

Treatment: Conservative measures have a limited role when addressing myelopathy. Because recovery after spinal cord damage is unpredictable at best, surgical decompression is often times recommended. The objective is to decompress the cord to prevent progression of spinal cord damage.
